Founded in 1961, Leicester Neptune Swimming Club is a family friendly swimming club based in the heart of Leicester City.
We offer training and coaching in competitive swimming
for all ages and abilities – with sessions
across the Leicester area throughout the week.
We welcome you to join us and to take your swimming to new levels.

Our Vision
To inspire and enable our members to achieve excellence in the sport of swimming and in life, and to cultivate a life-long love of swimming.
Our Aims
1) The development of competitive swimmers who can either:
- transition into senior level swimming within the club and compete at open meets regularly and successfully or
- transition into the LASA performance pathway (City of Leicester)
2) To provide an opportunity for swimmers who want to swim for the health benefits, fun and friendships.

Our History
Leicester Neptune Swimming Club was established in 1961, initially as a club for girls up to the age of 16. It offered lessons from qualified instructors and welcomed swimmers of all abilities – even those who couldn’t swim at all.
At first, “The Neptune” trained every Friday at 9pm at Vestry Street little bath (all 17 yards of it) in Leicester city centre, just off Humberstone Gate.
By the end of the 1960s Leicester Neptune had established itself as a competitive force, and the iconic ‘trident’ hats have been a constant and recognisable presence in the Leicester and East Midlands swimming scenes ever since.
Today, the values of inclusivity and community on which Leicester Neptune was founded live on. We are proud to be a club based in the heart of Leicester, serving and representing our local community – and welcoming swimmers from a wide range of backgrounds.
